Main Street is the beating heart of Park City, and few businesses have been a part of its pulse as long—or as beautifully—as Park City Jewelers.

For our latest Local Business Spotlight, Team Schlopy’s own Christi Gallon had the distinct honor of sitting down with Cole Whipple to talk about the family-owned shop’s incredible 30-year legacy, the evolution of our mountain town, and the story behind the iconic diamond snowflake.

Here is a look at what makes Park City Jewelers such a cherished staple of the Wasatch Back.

From a Small Ski Town to a World-Class Destination

Over the past three decades, Park City has transformed dramatically, and Park City Jewelers has had a front-row seat to the evolution.

"One of the biggest changes is seeing it go from a small mountain resort into a high-class destination for all of our customers," Cole shared.

But despite the town’s massive growth, the family’s secret to success has remained incredibly grounded. For them, it is not just about the jewelry; it is about the people wearing it.

"One of our biggest successes throughout the years is just building relationships with our customers—taking care of them and fitting all their needs."

The Origin of the Park City Diamond Snowflake

If you have spent time in town, you have likely seen the diamond snowflake. It has become a symbol of the area’s world-renowned winters.

But what many people don't realize is that Park City Jewelers was actually the very first jeweler on Main Street to create it.

Even more fascinating? A hidden detail in the original design.

"Our very first snowflake we ever made actually had the words 'Park City' hidden in the snowflake," Cole revealed.

While they never anticipated the design becoming the iconic local staple it is today, it is a legacy they are incredibly proud to claim.

The "Wow" Factor: A Different Kind of Jewelry Store

Purchasing jewelry is an inherently personal, emotional experience. After 30 years of helping clients celebrate their biggest milestones, Park City Jewelers has perfected the art of the customer experience.

"We always tell everyone that our jewelry store isn't your usual jewelry store," Cole explained. "When you walk into Park City Jewelers, we want our customers to be wowed. They need to feel appreciated... they need to be cared for and taken care of, so when they leave the store, they have those feelings to share with everybody else."

Living and Working in the Wasatch Back

We ask all of our spotlight guests the same final question: What is the best part of living and working in the Wasatch Back?

For Cole, it comes down to a perfect blend of environment and people. "It's an incredible place... it comes down to the community, family, and of course, the outdoors. To be able to come into work seeing all these views in Park City, and then working with people that we love, is huge. And then just to be able to carry on this legacy that we've had here for over 30 years—it's huge."
